Force Intelligence are currently recruiting for four intelligence analysts to work within the Development Teams in Tactical Intelligence at Lloyd House.  Analysis is an important tool for policing. It is used to understand crime and disorder issues, to investigate criminal incidents and to support the development of knowledge in increasingly diverse specialist areas.  Within the development teams you can be working on a variety of subject matter from some of the UK’s most serious and organised crime networks, to the criminals and networks that are causing us day-to-day policing challenges in terms of acquisitive crime and low level disorder.  

 

The role of the analyst is to take complex and wide ranging variety of information and data, and interrogate a variety of datasets in order to give a holistic view of what is happening and deliver insight into how a crime problem may develop, how a criminal network may evolve and operate, and working with other intelligence and policing professionals identify the best recommendations to help tackle problems.

Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To undertake all analytical functions within the department/NPU in relation to the preparation of comprehensive National Intelligence Model products, in accordance with nationally agreed principles.
  • To assist in current intelligence operations by researching, collating and analysing information from all relevant sources, and providing researched recommendations to senior management teams.
  • To assist in the development of intelligence collection plans to ensure the effective communication of these to operational officers.
  • To develop and maintain knowledge of current intelligence together with the crime trends and patterns relevant to the force.
  • Prepare briefing notes and deliver clear presentations where appropriate ensuring that the medium used is suitable for the audience.
  • To conduct strategic analysis and produce Strategic Assessments.
  • To liaise with staff across the force and other agencies to obtain and/or disseminate information, and actively participate in meetings.
  • To advise upon and recommend likely targets and present analysis to Senior Officers.
  • To prepare evidence, attend court and give evidence when required.
  • To take appropriate security precautions in respect of intelligence information.
  • To ensure that a duty of care is shown and take appropriate action to comply with Health and Safety requirements at all times.
  • To carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose and grading of the post that may from time to time be determined.
  • Work towards and support the Intelligence Professionalisation programme. Gain accreditation by completing the national occupational standards (NOS) for the role and inclusion on the National Intelligence Register.

 

Qualifications

 

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

  • At least three years analytical experience. Having attained a basic analyst practitioner qualification from a law enforcement agency.
  • Evidence a good understanding of the requirements of the National Intelligence Model.
  • Articulate and able to discuss and negotiate complex and difficult issues.
  • Must be proficient in Windows computer software including i2 and GIS
  • Must be able to demonstrate an appreciation of court procedures and legal knowledge.
  • Evidence good presentation skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of relevant West Midlands Police policy and processes.
  • Educated to degree level.
