Mark Willis

Mark is a serving Police officer on the very busy West & Central policing unit based in Handsworth. He is as a neighbourhood officer on the Perry Barr constituency. In January 2019, he will take up a new role on West Midlands Police CID Department. Mark has worked for West Midlands Police since 2005 when he joined as a member of the Human Resource department. He led on special Constable recruitment ,West Midlands Police apprenticeship programme and the In -House agency supplying temporary staff to various departments.

In 2009, Mark joined as a Police Officer at the ripe old age of 40 !

He has worked as a response officer in some of the most demanding areas in central Birmingham dealing with calls for service around domestic violence,theft, burglary and the national public place disorders of 2011.

In 2013, he transfered to Neighbourhood Policing tackling issues  of ASB, controlled substance supply and working with partnership agencies to problem solve long term issues.

Mark volunteers his time as a MOSAIC mentor in secodary schools, a workplace confllict mediator and has recently taken on the role as a West Midlands Police Cadet Leader.

He has also trained colleagues on stop and search procedures and the victims code to ensure they meet both legislation and corporate social responsiblites.

Birmingham PRIDE is a big passion and he has led West Midlands Police involvement as a network for the last 3 years.

Mark has served on the LGBT Network committee for 5 years, and has been a network member since 2005.  He was shortlisted for a West Midlands Police Diamond award in the catergory 'Driving Diversity' in 2017.

Mark became our Chair in September 2018
